Council approves funds for Carrier Park Sport Courts and Park Plaza

Pick-up basketball players, rejoice. Your court will get an upgrade soon. And Asheville’s inline hockey players will enjoy facility upgrades too. At its May 10 meeting, City Council approved of $350,000 to renovate the Sports Court and Park Plaza in Carrier Park. It marks the second improvement Council will have approved for the park in recent weeks.

The City’s Street Services division continues to work 24-hour shifts to clear our roads of snow and ice. Secondary, or neighborhood, streets are the focus now that main thoroughfares have been cleared. Crews worked plows through streets last night, as they have every night since Winter Storm Jonas brought 13.5 inches of snow to Asheville

The City of Asheville’s Sanitation Division has cancelled trash and recycling collection today due to snow-covered and icy roads. Here is the revised trash and recycling collection for this week: Tuesday collect on Tuesday. Wednesday collect on Wednesday. Thursday collect on Thursday. Monday collect on Friday. Normally there is no Friday collection. All routes are serviced
