Tropical Storm Michael rolled through the Carolinas Thursday, causing the City of Asheville to close some street as the Swannanoa and French Broad rivers briefly jumped their banks in some places.

All roads have now reopened.

Public Works crews worked overnight to clean mud and debris off of Azalea and Swannanoa River roads so that they could reopen.

Downed trees causes Pearson Bridge and Beaverdam roads to close for a time on Thursday. Those roads have been cleared and reopened as well

If you encounter flooding

We urge everyone to take safety precautions anytime they encounter a flooded road. “Turn around, don’t drown.” Just 6 inches of fast-moving water can knock over and carry off an adult. Twelve inches of water can float a small car.
