The most prominent feature in Jake Rusher Park currently
is the playground.
New amenities are coming to Jake Rusher Park in south Asheville!
Before the City finalizes the planned improvements, staff want to check in with residents on the park concept crafted from earlier community meetings. A park concept plan will be presented for residents to review and provide their feedback. The Jake Rusher Park concept rendering includes:
- Playground improvements
- Restroom facilities
- Parking spaces
- Picnic area with grills
- Basketball, pickleball and tennis courts
These upgrades and improvements will create a fun, safe and more useful park for Asheville residents. Our goal is to include the community in the design decisions and deliver a high-quality park within the budget set aside for the project.
Meetings will be held:
- 2 to 4 p.m. May 19 in Jake Rusher Park, 132 Peachtree St, Arden
- 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 24 at Skyland Library, 260 Overlook Road
There will also be an online survey at Open City Hall Asheville. The park design concept will be posted there. The survey will open May 19 and run through mid-June.
What’s next? The input from these meetings will help guide the final design. The timeline for construction is spring through fall of 2019.

City staff are excited about the community input received so far and we look forward to feedback on this concept drawing for Jake Rusher Park!
