A message from Interim Neighborhood Coordinator Ashley Traynum-Carson:
With summer underway, the City of Asheville and the Asheville Police Department invite you and your neighbors to take part in National Night Out.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.
Events can be as big or as small as you like. For example, last year in Beverly Hills neighbors got together at the dog park and shared doggy treats, and Hawcreek closed a street for a block party. The most important thing is to come together with your neighbors to bring a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.
Below you will find the registration form, National Night Out coordinator materials (from the national headquarters), the City of Asheville’s outdoor special events guide and application. If you plan to host an event please return all of the material to myself, Asheville Traynum-Carson (ATraynum-Carson@ashevillenc.gov), Officer Justus (RJustus@ashevillenc.gov), and Officer McCulloch (firstname.lastname@example.org) by June 30. If you require a street closure please send in your applications ASAP because it requires additional processing.
Thank you for all you do as neighbors to keep Asheville a great place to live and work. We look forward to National Night out!
